Recommendations for preserving your OMEGA watch

Your OMEGA watch was designed to reliably accompany you throughout life if it regularly receives the best care. In addition to the yearly water resistance check and the complete service every 5-8 years, the following tips will help you preserve your timepiece over the years.

CHEMICAL PRODUCTS

Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetic products etc., since they may damage the bracelet, the case or the gaskets.

LEATHER STRAP

OMEGA recommends that you follow the steps below in order to preserve the condition of your leather strap as long as possible:

1. Avoid contact with water and dampness to prevent discoloration and deformation.
2. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent the colour from fading.
3. Do not forget that leather is permeable! Therefore avoid contact with greasy substances and cosmetic products. It is not advisable to clean your strap with leather cleaners.
4. If you have a problem with your leather strap, please contact your nearest OMEGA store.

POWER RESERVE (automatic)

The functioning of a self-winding mechanical OMEGA movement depends on the wrist movements of the wearer. When fully wound, the watch will have a power reserve corresponding to the model's specifications.

SHOCKS

All OMEGA watches are tested according to the official NIHS (Industrial Norms of the Swiss Watchmaking Industry) and the internal norms of Swatch Group. Although current OMEGA watches are shock-resistant up to 5000g, it must be specified that heavy shocks such as accidental knocks should be avoided.

TEMPERATURES

Avoid extreme temperatures (above 60C, or 140F, below 0C, or 32F) or extreme temperature changes.

CLEANING

For metal bracelets and for all water-resistant cases, use a toothbrush with soapy tap water and a soft cloth for drying.

MAGNETIC FIELDS

Unless your OMEGA watch is equipped with a Master Co-Axial Chronometer movement, resistant to magnetic fields greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss), we recommend that you avoid exposing it to powerful magnetic fields such as: loudspeakers, refrigerators, certain handbag clasps, iPad cases etc.

SCREW-IN-CROWN

Screw it in carefully to ensure that no water enters the mechanism.

SWIMMING IN THE SEA

Always rinse your watch with warm tap water afterwards. Please note: we recommend that you have the water resistance of your watch checked once a year by an OMEGA authorised service centre.

WATER RESISTANCE

A watch’s water resistance cannot be permanently guaranteed. It may be affected by the ageing of gaskets or by an accidental shock to one of the components assuring the water resistance such as crown, pushers and crystal. As stipulated in our service instructions, we recommend you to have the water resistance of your OMEGA watch checked once a year by an OMEGA authorised service centre.

Service intervals

Your OMEGA watch was conceived to stand the test of time. It will accompany you through life and continue to give you the time with beauty and precision, if it regularly receives the best care. The service frequency depends on the use of the watch and the environment in which it is worn. The water resistance can, for example, be affected by the aging of the gaskets or by an accidental shock. Therefore, we recommend that you have the water resistance checked once a year and a complete service performed every 5 to 8 years. Your OMEGA boutique or authorised service centre will be happy to take care of your watch and answer your questions.
