Many of those technologies will be in use for the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, including High-Speed Cameras, as well as the critical Swimming Touchpads, which automatically stop time when a swimmer touches them at the end of a race. Other events, such as Water Polo, benefit from OMEGA’s dedicated Shot Clocks, while in Open Water swimming, OMEGA has a special Tracking System to capture intermediate times.
As part of OMEGA’s comprehensive timekeeping services, athletes also have their performances measured by image-tracking cameras placed around the pool. Known as the Swim Tracker system, this incredible computer vision technology enables OMEGA to show live information such as positions, speeds, distances between swimmers, and even the number of strokes. It gives a comprehensive overview for TV spectators and coaches - and shows exactly how an event was won or lost.
“As well as timekeeping, OMEGA partners with many of swimming’s most recognised athletes.”
The events at the World Aquatics Championships 2023 are taking place at venues across Fukuoka. OMEGA will welcome invited guests to dedicated timekeeping visits, to reveal the magic behind the brand’s role. In addition, there will be opportunities to speak with the brand’s family of brand ambassadors, which includes many of the biggest names in the sport.
