This 45.5 mm tribute to the defenders of the 37th America’s Cup blends the deepest black with the turquoise of the Emirates Team New Zealand logo.

Complementing the black ceramic case is a unidirectional bezel in brushed black ceramic with white enamel diving scale and triangle-framed dot at 12, which includes white Super-LumiNova to emit a green glow in the dark.

On the matt ceramic dial, OMEGA has included a nod to pre-race protocol with a COUNTDOWN INDICATOR at 3 o’clock complete with flagged START. The indicator’s hand and subdial ring are in ETNZ logo turquoise, along with the minute track, number 12 and central seconds chronograph hand with America's Cup trophy counterwatch_case_weight. OMEGA has also included the colour on the rings of the brushed black ceramic pushers, the HE on the helium escape valve and the OMEGA logo on the crown.

As a salute to the kiwi crew, the NAIAD LOCK caseback has an Emirates Team New Zealand logo with turquoise fern and white lettering. A black and turquoise structured rubber strap with turquoise stitching and black ceramic clasp fixes the race-ready watch to the wrist, while OMEGA’s Master Chronometer Calibre 9900 provides the power.

The tribute to the kiwi crew incudes a special presentation box in Emirates Team New Zealand colours.

Before the machining and finishing processes take place, the sapphire crystals are produced under the Verneuil process, also called flame fusion. It involves the melting of the raw substance using oxyhydrogen flame and the crystallisation of the melted droplets to form a cylinder. Graded 9 on the Mohs-hardness scale (graded 1-10), the resulting sapphire crystals are virtually scratch-proof and very hard, ensuring an unhindered vision at all times.

Twice as precise as any officially certified chronometer

Our Master Chronometer watches are tested and certified twice. First, the movement is Chronometer-certified according to international standard ISO3159, requiring a precision of -4/+6 second per day, following the tests at the Official Swiss Chronometer Control (COSC). Then, the watch head and its movement undergo eight Master Chronometer tests set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) with criteria of 0/+5 seconds per day.

Less servicing

Expect fewer visits to the service centre. The Co-Axial escapement is designed to reduce friction inside the movement. As a result, less lubrication is needed and hence less servicing. Compared to non-Co-Axial watches, the intervals between getting your watch serviced will be much longer.

Shock-resistance

During the homologation process, OMEGA watches are tested to the extreme. This phase includes shock examinations, to confirm reliability and to check that its precision is maintained after a severe impact. All OMEGA timepieces are designed to withstand shocks corresponding to a 1-metre drop on a hard wooden floor. For a standard 150g timepiece, this sudden and rapid acceleration is an equivalent force of up to 5,000 G on the watch head.
