01: OMEGA‘S NEW BUILDING

As OMEGA entered the 21st century, it became increasingly clear that the brand had outgrown its original HQ and manufacture in Biel/Bienne, so a new building, designed by the Tokyo-born architect Shigeru Ban was constructed and officially opened in 2017.

Though the building would have to accommodate the brand’s ever-expanding machinery and personnel, increased space and capacity were not the only considerations. OMEGA insisted the building should have a bright, contemporary feel and this was achieved by taking full advantage of natural light. A pleasure to work in and visit, OMEGA’s new building would also boast impeccable eco-credentials, thanks to energy-saving technology and natural construction materials such as timber supporting beams.
