The OMEGA Speedmaster is the most famous chronograph on Earth and beyond, having been chosen by NASA in 1965 for all manned space missions. Marking the 50th anniversary of its most legendary space mission, the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, OMEGA has produced a commemorative Limited Edition watch in 18K Moonshine™ gold. The design follows a similar yellow gold Speedmaster that was gifted to all NASA astronauts in 1969 to celebrate their success.
OMEGA produced this solid gold Moonwatch in a limited run of 1,014 pieces, driven by the manual‑winding OMEGA Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, which provides superb precision and performance.
18K Moonshine™ gold, OMEGA’s own yellow gold alloy, has been used to create the 42 mm case. The vertically brushed step dial, also in 18K Moonshine™ gold, includes facetted onyx hour markers. A few touches of burgundy have been added, including the ceramic bezel ring, the markings on the caseback and the movement.
The inner decorative caseback ring, crafted from 18K Moonshine™ gold and blackened, features a partial world map of the American continent and a domed lunar meteorite inlay, representing the true proportions of the Earth and the Moon.
